The Continental Forum Sibiu Hotel is a 4 star hotel in Sibiu that marked the end of the medieval inn era and the early modern hotel industry. The building, which is a silent witness to the city history had more than 5 names over time: “La Bila Aurie” or “Bulevard”, “Habermann”, “Europe” and “Continental Forum”.
In 1853, the first telegraph in Sibiu was inaugurated on the first floor of “La Bila Aurie” hotel. Then we find the same hotel named as “Habermann”. It develops a new wing and will be renamed “Bulevard”.
In 1914, the Orthodox Church took over the building and added a third annex, prolonging the hotel to the intersection of streets Saguna and Bălcescu.
The new hotel will be called “Europe” during the ’30-’40. During the communist era, it will be renamed “Avenue”. A name which will be kept until 2007, when it was taken over by the Continental Hotels international chain and becomes one of the best hotel in Sibiu.
